Cosmetic rhinoplasty is performed to improve the appearance of the nose.  There are almost an infinite number of sizes and shapes of noses in the world and beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder.  However, many people have certain features of their nose that they wish to change.  It may be a subtle fullness in the nasal tip that needs to be refined.  Or it may be a large hump on the nose that needs to be straightened.  Some noses are just disproportional to the rest of the face in terms of size or shape.  Cosmetic nasal surgery is one of the most challenging and most rewarding aspects of facial plastic surgery.  A keen eye of the surgeon is necessary to envision proportionality, symmetry, and overall shape and position of the end result.  Numerous factors must be considered including race, gender, skin thickness, and quality and shape of the nasal bones and cartilages.  Importantly, improvement of the appearance of the nose must not (and need not) compromise nasal breathing.
